WARPED TOUR 2010 in Toronto!!

July 11, 2010

So, I am not going to add any pictures in this blog but I will try and give the best review I can for our experience @ Warped Tour in Mississauga on Friday, July 9th 2010. So first off I will try and explain all that led up to this day…

We were informed that we would be playing Warped Tour over a couple months in advance thanks to Earnityourself.com! We were told we were going to play on the Kevin Says Stage. Crookedhook was super pumped to get the chance to play on this stage since it was solar powered and there was a bunch of awesome bands that shared the stage with us like Gardening, Not Architecture, The Snips, The Flatliners and WOTE. I went off to Much Music the day before Warped Tour to meet with somebody to talk about filming our experience @ Warped in Toronto. This was for a special that they are doing about Warped Tour. So, I picked up the camera and got ready to start documenting!

We woke up the day of Warped Tour real early and got all of our stuff together (Tent, new merch, food, Steam Whistle Beer, Gear, Press Kits, etc.) We had to get there for 9 and it was raining nicely. After turning back around to get pick up something that Mark had forgot (I really forgot it, I just feel like putting the blame on Mark), we were back on our way to start our big day @ Warped Tour. When we rolled in it was still raining hard and we were hoping it would go away. I had to go and meet with some dude named Andrew to get our tickets to get us all inside. It actually took me a while to find this dude named Andrew but when I did I noticed it was the same dude who ran the Ernie Ball Stage the past 2 years we played. I said hello and gave him some of our merch, got our tickets and was off.

We started loading in our stuff next to our pals Walk of the Earth and they brought along Rene and Julian from The Johnstones (Pizza Slice). Tally from The Talliband, Narco, Christian, our gal friends, and the Aurora Crew helped at our Merch Table. This year we even got Meal Tickets!! Holy Crap. One of the highlight of our day was that Sarah Saturday set up a Scene Meet Up at each stop of the tour and sometimes people like Kevin Lyman (the owner of Warped Tour) come out and answer questions people have! We were going to go to that in a couple hours!

First band we got to see was Gardening, Not Architecture. This was Sarah Saturday’s (owner of earnityourself.com) band, which we were probably the most excited to see! She was awesome and me, Chicken and my girlfriend Linny all lined up to get some merch and finally meet her! Wow, no wonder she got signed to Underground Operations!! Kick ass!!

After that we got the see all our favourite Toronto bands Flats, Snips, WOTE! Then we were off th promote our set times before we headed of to the EIY Meetup @ 5 and then we were on stage @ 5:50! We flyered almost every porta potty, garbage, fence and Dano even flyered some peoples backs!! We saw some Bouncing Souls and then were off to the EIY Meet Up with our new friend Sarah. When we got there it was about 15 people in a circle near the huge tour vans….and yes Kevin Lyman was there!!! People asked questions and very huge people from the Music Industry answer the questions!! I can’t tell you what was discussed at this meeting but let me tell you. If anyone is serious about learning a lot about the Industry in one sit down you should definitely check out the EIY Scene Meetup on Warped Tour next Year!! Unfortunatley we had to cut out from the meetup a bit early since our set was about to start.

So we ran back to the Kevin Says Stage to see Mark is loading our stuff on stage and we were just about to head on. We loaded our gear on stage and saw the last song from the band that was playing. We tuned up real quick and the sound guy gave us the nod. You can check out our videos on youtube from this years Warped here:

After our set we got some dinner from catering which was 10 out of 10 in my books. I even fed some to a new fan/friend of ours that we met that day. We were having a great time and we ended up doing some more filiming for our Warped Documentary. Somebody passed out during a band called the New Cities set which was pretty nuts. They had to stop playing! Somebody made a joke and said they passed out from the horrible music. I found that pretty funny, 8 out of 10 in my books.
After that we noticed a lot of people were starting to exit as a final band took place on some other stage to the right of us, Glamour Pills or something like that. The band that was playing was kickass. Fake Problems was the name. Heard some of their stuff before and it was great to see it live! Warped 2010 was a huge success…
